Tax Receipts for Donations and Sponsorships

As a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Soleil des Orphelins is authorized to issue official tax receipts for donations and sponsorship contributions made during a calendar year.

These receipts allow donors and sponsors to claim the federal and provincial tax credits available for charitable donations. To be valid, receipts must include the full name and address of the donor, as provided at the time of the donation. Please note that tax receipts are non-transferable and must reflect the actual identity of the individual or entity making the contribution.

Receipts are generally issued once per year and summarize all eligible donations made during the fiscal period. Donors who have not received their receipt or wish to update their information can contact us directly for assistance or corrections as needed.

When will I receive my tax receipt?

We inform you that tax receipts for your sponsorship donations will be sent by email no later than the end of February.

For other one-time donations according to the different campaigns (*):

Don’t forget to present all your SDO tax receipts, including those via DonateNow, Facebook, or CanadaHelps, to benefit from a tax credit of up to 52% of the amount given.

Understanding the Tax Benefit of Your Donation

When a donation is made to a registered charity, such as Soleil des Orphelins, an official tax receipt is issued. This receipt allows you to reduce the amount of tax you owe by claiming the available federal and provincial tax credits.

Result: The donation directly contributes to improving the lives of orphans, while also offering a tax benefit to the donor.

For example, a donation of $60 can effectively cost much less after tax credits, depending on the donor’s province of residence, income, and tax situation.

You can reinvest the tax refund generated by your donations by giving it again to the orphans or for a second sponsorship. Your action will then have a double impact: it turns your generosity into concrete, lasting, and renewed support for those who need it most.
